First Impressions: Zevlin Body Shower Gel

Shower gel? On GRAVELBIKE? Let me explain… Zevlin

I first contacted Zevlin about their Big40 handlebar tape. Unbeknownst to me (at the time), they also had a line of body/skin-care products. When company co-founder Brad Hagestad asked if I would be interested in evaluating their other products, I accepted his invitation.

A week later, a box plastered with Zevlin logos arrived at GRAVELBIKE’s world headquarters. Upon opening the box, I was immediately greeted with a host of pleasant scents. Among the products was Zevlin’s Body Shower Gel. My curiosity piqued, I opened the bottle and took a whiff. My reaction? Lemonhead candy! Zevlin

Designed to be gentle on your skin–as well as invigorating your senses–the gel’s strong citrus scent is distinctive, but not obnoxiously so (and yes, it really does smell like Lemonhead candy). As a full-time bicycle commuter, showering twice a day can lead to dry skin in Colorado’s semi-arid climate. Even after several weeks of use, I didn’t experience any dryness associated with the Zevlin Shower Gel (because, after all, moisture is the essence of wetness).

Unlike many shower/body gels that rinse off before they can do their job, Zevlin’s gel has a nice “cling,” which means you ultimately use less of it. A small dollop of the gel was all that was needed to wash away sunscreen, chamois cream, trail grime, and even goose crap (don’t ask).

Zevlin’s Body Shower gel is made in the USA from natural and organic ingredients, and contains no parabens. A 12-ounce bottle retails for $16.95, and is available through select dealers, or directly from Zevlin.
